09/08/2012 Grant F. Smith, Research Director at IRmep.org, joins James Corbett to discuss the secret Israeli espionage program that smuggled nuclear materials out of the United States to help start the Israeli nuclear program in the 1960s. They go over the declassified documents tying Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu (PDF) to a nuclear technology smuggling ring targeting the U.S. in the 1980s, and explore Smith's book, Divert!: NUMEC, Zalman Shapiro and the diversion of US weapons grade uranium into the Israeli nuclear weapons program. 04/06/2011 - On April 6, Grant F. Smith presented a comprehensive review of the US-Israel Free Trade Agreement to the Finance and Economics Council at the University of Rochester. Using a slide show of declassified documents and charts, Smith revealed how secret agreements and a joint Israeli embassy/AIPAC covert operation undermined US industries and the trade negotiating process. New quantitative analysis and disclosures reveal the US-Israel trade agreement is actually a $10 billion/year foreign aid program. Smith also discusses how major omissions in Dan Senor and Saul Singer's 2009 Council on Foreign Relations book Start-up Nation: The Story of Israel's Economic Miracle undermine their two major findings: that perpetual conflict gives Israel a comparative advantage and that the US should reinstate conscription in order to match Israel's entrepreneurial output. Smith about newly declassified Senate investigation files of illegal Israeli public relations activities in the US.  They contrast the odd parallels between Israel's efforts to divert attention away from the Dimona nuclear weapons facility to current PR efforts to shape public opinion about Iran's civilian nuclear program. 02/09/07 - Al Jazeera report on IRmep's "Visa Denied" book.  Visa denials to Arab League visitors has caused an estimated $101 billion dollars in losses to manufacturing industries in the US. Losses for travel and tourism are approximately $1.8 billion. Higher education, which is not usually considered a service export, has had losses of around $2 billion which is equivalent to 9,000 jobs. This is problematic because the Arab market is extremely attractive to the United States. It has grown in terms of import demand from approximately $170 billion at the beginning of this century, or rather, the year 2000, to over $345 billion dollars estimated for this year. Download WMV

11/17/2004 - National Press Club Forum - The new Syrian and Saudi Accountability Acts represent unique Congressional forays into the executive branch's traditional authority over US foreign affairs. What is the potential long-term diplomatic and economic impact of accountability acts on the United States and its relations with the international community? What evidence and justifications underlie the acts? How are American national interests served? Which lobbies and interest groups seek these acts? As the U.S. Congress sets preconditions for relations with Middle East nations based on violations of international laws and resolutions, should a regional balance be sought in order to increase US credibility? Should relations with Israel also be subject to an accountability act?  Real Video Stream
